Apple Tree Montessori Nursery School (Rottingdean)
Our environment
Montessori education methods are available at our location in Rottingdean. The environment and culture stems from a system that is proven to give children a fantastic progression into the next stage of their learning journey. We believe every child should be free to find the path that suits them best, they will feel engaged, happy and fulfilled, everything else will follow. Our ethos is to keep classes small, whilst empowering your child’s imagination, creativity and curiosity.
In our Montessori setting, quality outcomes are further enhanced through the thoughtful preparation of the classroom environment, specially designed and selected learning materials and trained Montessori teachers (known as guides). We provide an open plan, carefully prepared environment encouraging independent thought, a sense of order, freedom and responsibility of choice. Encouraged to make their own choices, your child becomes further motivated by activities that enable them to complete with a sense of both pleasure and fulfilment. We provide a nurturing, home from home environment using natural materials and sustainable energy sources (wherever possible). We believe in applying a sprinkling of technology, but not technology for technology’s sake. Extra-curricular activities provided by our team include French, Yoga and Makaton in addition to daily outings to the beach, local parks, gardens and nature reserves.
We passionately believe that the Montessori educational approach represents that best possible start in life.
Our staff
Montessori Teachers are called Guides. As guides we’re here to help support your child in each stage of their development. Through observing the children, our guides will be able to offer activities that will be of most interest to them at that specific moment in their development. Your child therefore grows in an environment that is specifically designed to respond to their needs. We believe working hand in hand with parents is key to a happy, self-confident and fulfilled child.
We believe passionately in our small, close-knit and highly skilled teams. Our staff are carefully selected to ensure they share our caring, nurturing values and the high professional standards that we seek. We’re great advocates of training and continuing professional development. All employees are therefore encouraged to seek higher Level 3, Level 4 and Level 6 qualifications or train in more specialist areas. At our Montessori setting, our guides are highly skilled with a variety of different interests enabling them to enrich and widen your child’s horizons.
Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
We have a dedicated SEN coordinator.
