Housing Options Service (Brighton & Hove City Council)

The Housing Options Team can help with a variety of situations including:

  • negotiating with landlords over rent arrears and tenancy issues through their Housing Advice and Tenancy Relations service.
  • help and advice with paying your mortgage, negotiating payment of mortgage debt and the Mortgage Rescue Scheme.
  • assisting with claims for Housing Benefit and Local Housing Allowance.
  • offering advice and assistance if you are affected by domestic violence.
  • referral to tenancy support services.
  • referral to supported housing schemes.
  • help to find accommodation in the private sector.
  • assessing applications from people who are homeless.
  • providing advice on maximising benefit income.

Office hours are 9am to 5pm on Monday to Friday. On Wednesdays the drop in service and phone lines are open from 1pm to 5pm.

If you are experiencing a homeless emergency on a Wednesday and are without accommodation that night, please call back after 1pm or attend the drop-in service at the Customer Service Centre, Bartholomew House, Bartholomew Square, Brighton between 1pm and 4.30pm.
