Fiveways Playcentre

Day nursery

Our environment

Fiveways Playcentre is surrounded by a green oasis, tucked away behind houses at the bottom of Florence road. Our new purpose built centre also houses Preston Park Children’s Centre. We are a long-established, registered, non-profit-making charity committed to the very best for all our children. We aim to provide a welcoming, happy and relaxed atmosphere where children, parents and staff all value, respect and care for each other. We welcome preschool children ages 2-4 as well as local school children for breakfast and afterschool club and parents/carers with younger children can attend our Play and Stay sessions.

At Fiveways Playcentre we help to build informal community networks as helping each other out and getting to know your neighbours is important. As a charity, we rely on parents support to help us work with their child, for fundraising and maintenance. We hold community events such as the summer fair and fireworks night to raise funds, but also to get to know people and give our children and ourselves a sense of place in our community. We encourage children and parents to learn how to ‘tread lightly’ on our planet so the planet can continue to support us and our children in the future.

Our preschool sessions offer a caring and stimulating environment where children are divided into 4 ‘home groups’ named after trees in the grounds. The Pre-school session runs term time only from 9am-4pm, however working parents can opt for additional ‘wrap around’ child care first thing in the morning at our breakfast club, over lunch or with the after school club finishing at 6pm.

Our staff

We believe children learn best from well organised play based activities. Our professional and qualified staff use the EYFS curriculum and ‘learning through play’ to provide this. Our team prioritises individual needs and do the best for each of our children. All the children at Fiveways Playcentre are given generous care and attention because of our high ratio of qualified staff to children.

Our staff team value and respect parents/carers as the child’s first educator and we work in partnership with parents/carers to support children to learn and develop. The staff at Fiveways Playcentre are always here with a smile to answer any questions you may have.

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

We have experience of working with a range of disabilities/SEN and Individual needs are a top priority in our caring and stimulating environment.

Here at Fiveways every child has the opportunity to enjoy the company of other children and adults; to play and learn together in a group which values everyone whatever their gender, race or cultural background, whether or not they have disabilities

Children can bring a packed lunch or parents can pay an additional £3 for a lunch bag which is made on site.

Flexible, emergency and occasional childcare

We are open term time only, sometimes offering Holiday Playschemes. Flexible hours are available on request for preschool sessions. Working parents can opt for additional ‘wrap around’ child care first thing in the morning, over lunch or with the after school club. Occasional and emergency childcare is available, preferably when there is already a completed registration for the child. Please enquire directly with us.

Bus routes, 5, 5A, 5B, 26, 46 and 50 all stop within a 5 minute walk of the setting. London Road train station is also a short walk away from the Playcentre.
