About us
The Family Information Service (FIS) is part of the Brighton & Hove Children & Young People’s Trust. We are proud to have been awarded the Charter Mark, which is the Government’s national standard for excellence in customer service.
We hold a wide range of useful information for families and the people who work with them throughout the city. Our service is free, impartial and open to everyone. Our team of friendly and knowledgeable advisers will do their best to answer all of your questions, or will signpost you onto the best organisation to meet your needs.
Information on services for families
We know that bringing up a family can be one of the most rewarding jobs in the world,
but it can also be one of the toughest. That’s why we’re here to help you. On this
directory you’ll find a wide range of local information for families on the things
that are important to them, from having fun to support and advice when it’s needed.
Help with choosing childcare
If you are looking for childcare in the city, then you can search online,
but we recommend that you contact us to make sure that you make the right choice
for your child and you. Our Advisers can talk you through all the options and tailor
a search that is specific to your needs. They can also advise you on the financial
help that is available to help towards the costs of childcare, including Free Early
Education and Tax Credits.

Our advisers are happy to visit organisations and groups to speak to parents,
practitioners, or people wanting to work with children. We regularly attend:
